Another close encounter with the Alpaca world or "a trip home from Huamachuco.

Oh yes, we will miss this lovely creations when we go home.

And I have the best husband ever, who stops the car every time I spot an Alpaca or Llama.

 I think if we had alpaca's in the United States, they would have been the official cutest stuffed animal, instead of a teddy bear!

 We also found a Llama beside the road, we had to stop, get spit at and take a few pictures.

It was so nice to see her and have a visit.

 It started to rain and around one corner was a beautiful rainbow.

 We also saw a few turkeys.

 We just loved our drive home from Huamachuco, we will miss the Andes.

What do Missionaries do in Cajamarca?

I have been getting pictures each week from Elder Baily in Cajamarca.  

 I love the pictures and they tell a story about the other part of the mission when we are not with them.

 I hear that all the missionaries in Cajamarca went to conference together. 

 The building was locked until three minutes before conference and they were so worried they would not hear the announcement of the 3 new apostles. 

 I received this picture and it looks like they all went to the Granja Porcon, visit the zoo.

Sunday night we had a wonderful Charla Foganera, we had some lovely musical numbers

and watched the movie Meeting the Mormon's

It was nice to have neighbors and friends join us for this event. 

 The missionaries provided a wonderful choir, Sister Rochette and Elder Benitez (center) were the soloists.  

 Companions, Sister Afoa and Sister Stewart joined their voices to sing praises to the Lord.

"On the Road to Cajamarca"

We spent the last week up in Cajamarca, we had interviews with the missionaries, visited people that the missionaries are teaching, visited Chota and the Branch there.
We also had time to take in a few ruins and sites with the Catamarca Zones' Missionaries.

A Tour of Cajamarca

We decided that after five days of interviews and driving, we would take a look around Cajamarca, 

it is truly a beautiful city. 

We found that there are many ruins from the Inca and Pre-Inca civilizations. 

 The Ventanillas de Otusco.  

These were sepulchers for the wealthy Inca rulers of this area.  

They are called Ventanillas because they look like little windows in the cliffs. 

We had a one day history lesson from President Barboza, 

not only is he the stake president in Cajamarca Stake,

but also a tour guide and historian.

 The Baños de Incas in the town with the same name, 

where Atahualpa spent his final vacation before 

the Spaniard Conquistadores captured him.

 Hot and cold water come into the baño, mixed to a perfect temperature to enjoy a bath.

 This is the modern day spa that takes advantage of the hot springs. 

 The remains of an Inca temple.  The rocked area was a baptismal fount,

it is believed that it was used for vicarious baptisms for the dead. 

 We stopped to enjoy the playground, Sister Angel and Sister Marler enjoying the swings.

 Everybody likes to swing, no?
