Interviews and reading the Book of Mormon

For the last 5 weeks President Marler conducted interviews with each missionary. 

As he did so, Sister Vaughan and Sister Angel taught English lessons to our 

native Spanish speakers, a

nd taught the English speakers to better teachers of English to their companions. 

They also trained our English language tutors.

It is a time for President Marler to visit with each missionary, 

helping them to become better missionaries.

Sister Marler taught a mini lesson on the atonement and gave each missionary
a new Book of Mormon, they are to read it over the next few weeks, marking
each reference to Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost.
Did you know there are 3,825 references to Christ in the Book of Mormon.
It is a scripture about Him, written by Him, for us in this day.

Sister Vaughan and Sister Angell, in addition to teaching English, 

they are learning Spanish. They have a tutor several days a week.

They are teaching by example how to learn a new language, 

it is difficult, but they are doing well communicating with our missionaries.

Now who doesn't understand that kind of love!

These interviews are bitter-sweet, they will be the last we have with some of
our missionaries, not because they are going home,
but because of the mission split.
July 1 we become 2 missions, an exciting time in Trujillo,
the Church is growing, we are going to have a temple.
But we will certainly miss the 100+ wonderful missionaries that will be serving
in the Trujillo South Mission

We would like to invite you to  join us in reading the Book of Mormon and marking all of the references to Jesus Christ.

You will draw closer to Him and come to know Him better.

You will learn of His teachings, his great love for you, 

and the great redeeming gift of His love.

He died for you and suffered for you, that you could be made clean from your sins, pains, hurts and 

afflictions, we call this the "atonement of Jesus Christ"

It brings us back to Him, back to our Father in Heaven, a reconciliation with God.

As Members of the Church of Jesus Christ, 

we are eternally grateful for His great sacrifice, 

and we live each day, sharing the truths of His Gospel (the Good Word) to 

invite others to come unto Him.

Last few moments in the Trujillo Mission

So you ask, What missionaries do their last 1/2 day in the mission?

Here are the last few photos of these wonderful missionaries:

 There is time to have a facial, with the items mom sent last Christmas, 

it was the first break they had in a year!

before heading home to winter and snow in Utah. 

 Sister Panchi made gifts to take home to her family.

 Elder Antuña relaxed, visited the temple site, and enjoyed watching the new assistant, Elder Haacke

do all of the work he has done for the last 9 months!

 it was off to the airport.  Our first stop was the temple, one last view and a picture.

 At the airport the missionaries are greeted by dear friends.

 There are always a few tears shed and missionaries and those they have taught and loved, 

say good-bye.

 …and now something different, but so sweet, look outside the glass window, those 4 people are our new missionaries getting off the plane, with Sister Wayman and Sister Panchi waving and welcoming them as they wait to board the same plane and fly home.

The Sisters and Elders welcomed the new missionaries, through the door…the looks of joy on their faces were remarkable, what a great way to enter the mission Trujillo.  They will never meet each other, but I hope our new missionaries come to realize that these who have left, have paved the way for them to be successful missionaries.  They have loved the people here in Peru, and helped to open doors and soften hearts that they are now ready to hear the message that our new missionaries bring.

A day in the office...

Elder Angamarca finished up training Sister Angell last week...

 Now it is back into the field as a District Leader, in Esperanza.

Packages, packages, packages!!!  

It looks like the packages are arriving a bit early for Christmas.

Everyone in the office helped sort package and get them prepared to get to their rightful owners.

Mormon Helping Hands Day in Trujillo was a huge success.  We estimate over 2000 members were present, working with an organization, "Clean Beaches", to clean Huanchaco Beach before the spring and summer season.  

 Each of the 7 stakes of Trujillo were represented at the beach clean up and missionaries served along side their wards and stakes to provide this wonderful service.    Here Elder Going and Elder Becerra work with the Barrio El Alto from the Laureles Stake.

The purpose of Mormon Helping Hands across the world is for members of the Church of Jesus Christo of Latter-day Saints to serve and beautify their community.  

Many times working along side government leaders, and other community service organizations.
