30 minutes to Play

They say all work and no play makes for a boring life.
Well there is nothing boring about our life and we rarely have a spare moment.
In between the Temple Meeting and the Pensionista Meeting
we had a few minutes to rest and play.
 "Discover why we are different"
 A Perfect moment in Chimbote.
 Anyone see the movie Titanic?
Some people never grow up!
Elder Brown, Elder Haacke, President Marler, Sister Reynolds and Sister Hidalgo.
Happy Days! No explanation necessary!

Pensionista Conferences

Pensionistas met from around the mission to receive training on nutrition
and care for our missionaries.
We help our first meeting in Chimbote...
The Chimbote Pensionistas show their Trujillo Temple Key-chains.
Our second meeting was held with the Pensionistas in Trujillo.
Sister Marler gave a training on nutrition, and balanced meals.
Probably poor timing, but we homemade cake and cookies after the presentation on nutrition.

Les Amamos nuestras Pensionistas.
Gracias por su servicio, gracias por su amor!

Elder Muguerza Berru baptizes his sister in Chimbote

It was a very special day for the Muguerza Berru family in Chimbote when Elder Muguerza baptized his sister.

Here is the entire family with some of our missionaries, Sister Rejala, Sister Yackie, and Elder Muguerza's companion, Elder Consuegra.
This is what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is about,
bringing families together for eternity!

A Visit with Elder Juan Uceda

We were blessed to have Elder Uceda of the Seventy and his lovely wife with us for 4 days.  The mission tour was wonderful, and it is always a joy to spend time with our missionaries.

Elder and Sister Uceda both served missions within our mission boundaries,
Elder Uceda in the Trujillo area and Sister Uceda in Chimbote.
They knew so many people and it was joy to watch their reunions.

Our training from Elder and Sister Uceda was exceptional at each and every meeting.
Here are a few pictures from some of the Zones during the Multi-Zone Meetings.

Interviews with the Missionaries

Every quarter President Marler has interviews with each of our missionaries.  That is 250 missionaries, each sitting down for an individual interview.  It is probably one of the presidents favorite things to do.  He loves being with the missionaries, hearing of their personal progress and hearing their testimonies of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Some of our Missionaries from the Chimbote Sur Zone
The mission is divided into Zones, the Zones pretty much have the same boundaries as the Stakes (that is a division of the Church with 6-10 congregations).  Each Zone has 2 Zone Leaders, missionaries that have Christ-like leadership qualities, including charity, the ability to teach well, caring for others, etc.  There is usually one or two Sister Leaders Trainers that work with and train and care for the sisters in each Zone.

Sister Leader Trainers
Each Zone has 12-24 missionaries.  It takes one day to interview each Zone, and 2 days for some of the biggest Zones.  So in one six week period we spend 18 days in interviews.
Zone Este
During the interviews,  the Assistants and Sister Marler meet with the missionaries in their companionships and providing, help, insight and training.  We will have future blog entries sharing their presentations.

Faithful and Loved...

5 of our wonderful, valiant, obedient, kind, and loving missionaries from Honduras received reassignments to various Colombia and Ecuador missions this last week.

Sister Flores, Elder Rodriguez, Elder Sauceda, Elder Cruz and Elder Hernandez
Happy to serve where ever the Lord assigns them!
On their way from Chimbote to Trujillo to catch a plane, the missionaries had quite a group to see them off.
Elder Winterton with Elder Cruz, making sure everyone has their passports and tickets.

Elder Sauceda and Elder Rodriguez, relaxing before lunch in the mission home

As luck would have it there was no electricity in Trujillo, so Sister Marler cooked the tortillas for tacos on the bar-b-que…and you thought it was only for hamburgers!
Sister Poma and Elder Claros share their experiences of moving from one mission to another.  They were in Bolivia, Venezuela and now in the Trujuillo Mission.

We celebrated Sister Flores' birthday with a tres leches cake…tip for the day, if you don't have electricity, don't try to shake your whipping cream, it went from liquid to butter immediately

Sister Flores blew out her candles, we hope all of her wishes come true
Everyone loved having one last meal in the mission home…Elder Hernandez favorite…tacos

 Elder Hernandez happy as ever...

We will miss you all
Our best wishes and love go with you as you serve in Colombia and Ecuador
