Sister Callata, Sister Calle and Sister Bills came by the mission home yesterday to make some homemade ginger snaps. They were so delicious. Now if I only had a glass of cold 1% right out of the fridge.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
2 cups flour 3/4 cup shortening
1 tablespoon ground ginger 1 cup white sugar (o rubio)
2 teaspoons baking soda 1 egg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 cup dark molasses
1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup cinnamon sugar
Direction:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 C.)
2. Mix dry ingredients- except sugar
3. Beat shortening until creamy, beat in white sugar, egg, then dark molasses
Add dry ingredients slowly
4. Roll balls of dough, 1 inching in size, roll in cinnamon sugar, place on ungreased baking sheet
5. Bake in preheated oven until the tips are rounded and slightly cracked. about 10 minutes
