Noche de Hogar (Family Home Evening)

You never know who might show up for Family Home Evening.
Elder Bailey had FHE with the
Goal keeper for UTC Peru Soccer team.
#21 Carlos Ulcumana

Welcoming some of our newest Members of the Church

Following Christ in all things is one of the blessings of the Gospel.
We congratulate all who were baptized this last week,
May you always walk in His footsteps and stay safely in His arms.
Elder Logan and Elder Price had a very special Saturday, as two of their dear friends were baptized.
Hermano Luis and Hermano Adolfo were so excited to accept the teachings of Christ,
and have a new beginning in their lives.
Elder Farnsworth and Elder Lavado were thrilled when the Linariz family ws baptized last Saturday.  It is so wonderful when a whole family enters the waters of baptism together.  Hermano Guillermo, Hermana Carmen and Hermano Kristofer are so happy that they have taken the fist strip toward being sealed int he temple and becoming an eternal family.

We've Been Here for 6 Weeks!

Time flies very quickly in the mission.
These fine missionaries have been here in the mission for 6 weeks.
We started our training today with a session in the temple.

Elder Smith, Elder Logan, Elder Carman, Elder Parkinson, Elder Peek, Elder Palmer, and Elder Nuñez
Elder  Capcha, with Elder Dorado and Elder Cuno.
 Elder Bedregal and Elder Paredes.
 Sister Schuyler and Sister Villa.
 Elder Oviatt and Elder Carman.
Sister Beasley and Sister Olson, now that is pure joy!
Sister Arroyo, Sister Haro and Sister Salinas, one of our powerful trios.
Sister Sellan and Sister Rodriguez, followed by Elder Peek and Elder Cuno.
Sister Peel and Rimachi at the temple with their investigators for a very special lesson.
 Elder Paredes and Elder Capcha.
Elder Bedregal with President Marler, great teaching moments.
President Marler asks Elder Nuñez, "if you were God, where would you put the chosen who are
ready to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ?"
Elder Nuñez and Elder Drescher with President Marler.
A wonderful meeting, a great spirit, and the best missionaries in the entire world…
right here in the Trujillo Peru North Mission!
From the blog, I am sure it looks like all we do is have meetings and trainings.
A majority of President Marler's and my time is spent in this manner, with various groups of missionaries.  It is our responsibility to train, assist and bless the lives of the missionaries.
We teach the missionaries skills to help them keep physically, spiritually and emotionally healthy.
…and most important to be great ambassadors for Christ, inviting the Children of God
to come unto Christ and accept his atoning sacrifice for them.
How great is our calling!

Day 1 in the Trujillo North Mission

So you ask, what is the typical first day in the mission.
We start with breakfast at 7:00am, after a night of very little sleep.
Cereal, Milk, Juice, Fruit and Yogurt, the breakfast of champions.
After breakfast the new missionaries have a little time to listen to spiritual music,
and study their scriptures.
Elder Tarqui, Elder Cantos, Elder Cuellar, Elder Espinosa on the couch,
with Elder Herde and Elder Wynn behind and Elder Babbel on the piano.
We have a welcome and orientation by President and Sister Marler,
then divide into little groups for mini-classes on various subjects.
Elder Heward, Elder Romero and Elder Olsen
teach Elder Espinosa, Elder Mendoza and Elder Morote about
mission rules, and mission culture, and how to keep healthy.
Here, Elder Tarqui and Cuellar are learning to say the Missionary Purpose in English
with Sister Angell and Sister Vaughan.
Every missionary has an interview with President Marler.
Elder Cantos enjoyed his interview, sharing news of his family, his likes and dislikes.

Sister Aldana, Sister Chacon and Elder Alcarraz learn
about the "Work of Salvation" from Elder Bond.
Elder Marshall teaches a class on mission rules and norms to Elder Wynn, Elder Babble
and Elder Herde.
"It all turned out in the end!"
Most positive missionary ever, Elder Marshall.

Then Hermana Esmelda and Hermana Alicia made us Lomo Saltado for lunch...
Elder Babbel gave us a little piano concert.
Elder Cuellar and his trainer, Elder Cabeza.
Elder Males and his new companion Elder Wynn.
President Marler talking with Elder Salinas and his companion Elder Babbel.
Sister Angell and Sister Vaughan are all smiles at the meeting for our new missionaries.
President and Sister Marler singing at the training meeting.
Now this is a great looking group of Elders.
End of a long day, going home to their area (Elder Wynn and Elder Males).
Elder Espinosa, Elder Alcarraz, Elder Rodriguez, and Elder Mendez
Hermana Aldana and Sister Furness.
As you can see a first day in the mission is a very exciting, busy, full day.
