Baptisms!

Elder Leavitt and Elder Winterton had a wonderful baptism on Saturday.  A Golden Family returned to the Church after years of being away, and their son Marcello was baptized.
Elder Swaney and Elder Pequeño were blessed by assisting two to come unto Christ.

Casa Grande and Central Multi Zone Conference

Multi Zone conferences are a wonderful time to gather and hear important messages that will uplift and inspire our missionaries.

For this series of conferences, our central theme is the uniqueness of our message and the reasons why someone would want seek to learn about the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As always, we have time for extremely spiritual moments and well as time for a little fun.
Here the missionaries play a Preach My Gospel game to find passages about the Book of Mormon.

There are always people who enjoy the games more than others, President Marler doesn't get to play often, but when he does, he really puts his heart and soul into it.
Elder Contreras and Elder Lloyd organized the Olympic event...
Elder Flores loved winning his cookies…
we just hope he shared them with his new companion, Elder Weber.…

Esperanza Stake - "La Invitación"

The Esperanza Stake hosted a wonderful program this past Sunday.
The Missionaries from several zones presented songs, testimonies and The Spirit.
The Missionary choir started the evening by entering the hall, singing "Called to Serve Him"
Over 1,100 people were in attendance to hear the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Zone Leaders, Elder Diaz and Elder Brown organized a great evening, under the direction of
Brother Rocky Cisneros (who just happened to serve a mission in the San Diego California Mission a few years ago)
President Bravo (Stake President of the Esperanza Stake) and President Marler with their wives,
the "Obra de Salvación" is bringing many souls to Christ as we work together with our local priesthood leaders, and membership.
We thank everyone for this wonderful evening.

Great Quote

I find that during the Mundial Games (World Cup) that everyone has a favorite team, picks the jersey and colors they love and does everything they can to help "their team win"…  Here is a quote from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland…We, in the Trujillo Mission, pick the Lord's team!

“The FUTURE of this world has long been DECLARED; the final outcome between GOOD and evil is already KNOWN. There is absolutely no question as to who WINS because the VICTORY has already been posted on the SCOREBOARD. The only really strange thing is all of this is that we are still down here on the FIELD trying to decide which TEAM’S JERSEY we want to wear!”

The Cowley Companionship

This is Elder Cowley, he has been in the Trujillo Mission since October
He is from Utah, USA
Just to keep things straight lets call him Elder Cowley 1
Now Elder Cowley was called by President Marler to be a trainer,
he was pretty exited and like with all of our companionships, President spends a lot of time prayerfully deciding on companionships and trainers.
Elder Cowley is the North American standing in the back center

Now this is Elder Cowley 2, he just arrived yesterday from the Lima MTC.
He is from California, USA
He is enthusiastic and ready to serve.
The first afternoon after the missionaries arrive, they get to meet there companions.
Elder Cowley 1 had heard that and Elder Cowley 2 was coming and he was excited to meet him, and to find out if they were related.
But no one could have imagined the excitement they felt when it was announced that they would be companions.
Elder Cowley 1 gave a shout for joy
 Elder Cowley 2 jumped up
Now can you tell which is Elder Cowley 1 and which is Elder Cowley 2?
So excited to be companions, they don't know yet if they are related…maybe Family Search can help
P.S.  Elder Cowley 1 is on our right!

President Marler's Birthday

July 17, a special day in the Marler Household.  It is President Marler and two of his daughter's birthdays (Jenny and Kim)
The celebration stated yesterday with alfajores and singing happy birthday in the streets of Otusco with  Elder Harris, Elder Boekweg, Elder Jackson, Elder Tirado and Elder Bravo

Then today it began with FaceTime calls from Brian and Stefany, and their families, a lovely email from Becky, and a few phone calls from various Sisters around the mission, with birthday wishes and singing.

Then there was a planning meeting with the assistants, Elder Antuña and President Marler posed with their new Argentina Futbol Shirts.
The meeting was then interrupted by missionaries from California 1, California 2, Vista Alegre and the Office Elders…could this possibly been planned?

This turned into a surprise birthday party, complete with Grandma Jan's Chocolate Cake with walnuts, ice-cream and repeated rounds of Happy Birthday, via Skype to Jenny and Kim.
It was fun to have our two families mingle for a birthday celebration across 4000 miles

Elder and Elder stopped by to bring birthday greetings from the Porvenir Zone

And the finale of the day, President received birthday wishes from every missionary in the mission
"Thanks everyone for the wonderful birthday"
