Room Checks and Proselytizing

What a great day, we started out the morning with room checks.  It is always and interesting experience to look at the rooms of our missionaries.  This week the Palermo Zone did a great job of keeping their rooms spotless.
Elder Fankhauser, Elder Marshall, and Elder Kaelin were busy getting ready for Elder Fankhauser's new companion, Elder Nielsen.
Elder Pearce and Elder Paqueño had a super neat room, great job Elders.
I spent the afternoon with the Elders in Los Cedros in an area called Esmelda, named after the Huaca. With a little persuasion, the guard let us visit the Huaca…it was great, and right in the middle of town.
Elder Johnson and Elder Sotelo were great tour guides, and it was so terrific to contact some folks in the park and in the streets.  It was a wonderful day.

What is happening at the Mission office?

After two weeks of training, Elder Angamarca will be saying good-bye to Sister Angell and going back out into the mission field.  We will miss you Elder Angamarca!
So the mail strike is over and we got 67 packages on Wednesday, it was like Christmas just sorting the packages.  We had 4 of those big white bags stuffed full of packages and letters!

Family Home Evening and a visit to the Trujillo Temple

Friday night we had Family Home Evening with a wonderful family, Hermano Ricardo, Hermana Domi y their son, Estefan.
We had a great lesson, sang songs, ate cake and ice-cream.
The next morning we took the family to see the temple.  On Dia de Los Muertos, the temple gates are opened and we are able to drive through the temple grounds.  The temple is beautiful and and the grounds are now being planted and are very lovely.

Elder Benitez and Elder Heward were in front of the temple, sharing messages with people about the eternal family and the reason for temples.
All the missionaries from the Esperanza Zone, enjoyed a trip through the temple grounds.
In the afternoon the Primavera Zone visited with people near the temple and cemetery, it was a wonderful day.

Leadership Council, October 2014

The Leadership Council met on Wednesday…it is always great to have everyone together.

Dinner is always a treat at the mission home.  We love Alicia and Lucy's brownies.

Hermana Lasike and Hermana Redd, just finishing up their meal.
Elder Endicott and Elder Alfaro together at dinner.
This group loves to have their pictures taken together…note last months Concilio also!
So many of our Sister Leader Trainers are going home this month…weeks!
We call this "our group", we met them at the MTC in Provo in June of 2013.
They came out to the mission field the same time we came...
Sister Calle, Sister Assef and Sister Panchi enjoying some time together at the mission home.

Some times no one is very serious, well except, Elder Angamarca.
Our Service project was cleaning all the buildings in the Porvenir Stake.

Elder Pearce the winner of the Trujillo Ping-Pong Tournament

Elder Anderson and Elder Peace in the final round…and
 Elder Pearce is the Ganador!!!!!!
 …and the best man won.
Elder Pearce and Sister Rejala in one of the final rounds.
Elder Zavaleta and Elder Fankhauser show their great skill at the table.
It was a great day, congratulations once again, Elder Pearce!

Office Staff Welcomes Hermana Angell and Hermana Vaughan.

Sister Angell will now be serving as the Secretario de Suministras, and Sister Vaughan will be serving as the Financial Secretary.
This change means the entire office staff is being reorganized, so stay tuned for other changes.
We welcome our newest office staff members,
and as they complete training one another, say adieu to others.
From Left to Right: Elder Angamarca, Elder Antuña, Sister Angell, Elder Cano, Elder Winterton, Sister Vaughan, Elder Leavitt, Sister Marler, Elder Brown, and President Marler.

Elder Antuña turns 21!

Elder Antuña enjoyed a dinner from the bar-b-que, American Hot dogs and Hamburgers
Then his favorite dessert, Hermana Marler's Torta de Chocolate Cuatro Leches
We then played some crazy party games…President demonstrating talking to a neighbor about a pen,

And Sister Vaughan crying a little...
Elder Winterton cries better than anyone, what an actor!
Then of course Sister Angell and Sister Vaughan "acted old."
The evening ended with a game of spoons, with Elder Leavitt taking the grand prize.
Hope you had a Happy Birthday Elder Antuña...
