Welcome Elder McEwan

Elder McEwan came to the Trujillo Mission

on Monday, December 1.

Unfortunately, my memory card was erased so we re-enacted his arrival.

First, Elder Diaz his trainer, jumps for joy as they announce he will be training Elder McEwan.

Trujillo Mission Christmas Talent Show

We start each Christmas Day with a talent show…a devotional by President and Sister Marler and

birthday cakes to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. 

This year in our Multi-Zone Conferences we talked about the greatest gifts we have ever been given…we watched the video "He is the Gift"

and committed for the month of December to give the Lord a gift. 

The gift of ourselves, our hearts, our all.  

Our message on Christmas day included thinking of what our next step is, what gift can we give

to the King of King and Lord of Lord's.

We talked about our preparations for the new temple, 

and our desire to invite many to come to the house of the Lord 

to receive the gifts that our Heavenly Father has for them there.

A little time with friends…Familia Mendez

Christmas is a time of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world

and being with family and friends.

One of our Christmas Traditions is having our friends, the Mendez Family

spend a few days with us after the Christmas Concert.

We visited the Trujillo Temple, we are close to having a date for the dedication…

we can just feel it coming.

President took a few photos of some giant pelicans, they were so beautiful.

I even found a piece of green sea glass to add to my collection at home.

Of course we ran into Sistser Gonzalez and Sister Baldeon in their area of Huanchaco!

Next it was off to the horse show and a picnic lunch.

The Paseo de Caballos, is a program of song and dance of Peru all with the Peruvian horses, 

with their very peculiar gait. 

I love the Marinera dance.

…and even more when it with beautiful horses.

We loved having our pictures taken with the performers...

…and of course, photos with our favorite horse.

He always wanted to be a cowboy and have a horse.

Maybe our next house will have room for a horse or two.

We ended our days together with a family home evening of Christmas Caroling and sharing the message of Christ with others…our neighbors loved Alicia's homemade cookies.

A different kind of Missionary Lesson

Usually  two missionaries meet with a family and teach them a message about he restored gospel of Jesus Christ in their home.   This week, Elder Wengert and Elder Mendez taught a different kind of lesson.  A lesson about the eternal family and invited a family to prepare to enter the house of the Lord.

The lesson was taught in front of the temple.  Now that is a pretty amazing object lesson!

BYU may have lost the game,

 but it was a great night for Elder Brown's family and our son, Brian Marler's family.  

After the game, in Miami, they got together, talked for awhile and took this great picture.  

Mission Families just keep growing.
