Last week's interviews

Another week of interviews, and another time to visit with our wonderful missionaries.
Tips for the day from Preach My Gospel:
page 151: Once you have created a record, protect it, it represents one of Heavenly Father's Children.
page 149: Use your Area Book every day, it is a tool we have to help us find and teach.
page 99: The Spirit (Holy Ghost) is always available to guide and direct you,
The Spirit talks with a quiet love, though feelings and thoughts.
Sometimes it is a challenge to feel and recognize those impression...
Be the kind of missionary that says, like Samuel in the Bible, "Speak Lord, your servant hears" Remember to hear the Lord means we act when we feel the promptings.
Elder Boza, Elder Cabezas, Elder Claros, Elder Bolivia and Elder Mendoza from the Zona Este.
Elder Huallpa received his English certificate, his teachers are so very happy.
Sister Rimache and Sister Vasuqez waiting for their interviews with
President Marler.

Elder Henry and Elder Cuno, everyone loves being in the office for interviews.
The Casa Grande missionaries, Elder Garside and Elder Oviatt are having a wonderful
missionary experience in Chicama.

We love our zone leaders, Elder Marshall and Elder Ricapa.
Thanks for the refreshments and your terrific leadership.

A White NIght in Esperanza

All dressed in white and ready for their baptisms,
it was a beautiful night in Esperanza.
Members of three wards turned out to welcome those who were being baptized.

Sister Cruz and Sister Chavez taught Brother in La Victoria.
Now the family begins their journey to the temple!
Sister Tonga and Sister Siguera invited Sister to be baptized
and come unto Jesus Christ.
Elder Medrano and Elder Casco couldn't be happier as the   family enters the waters of baptism.
Taught by Elder Singh and Elder Cano, this lovely Sister was baptized by her husband.
A little musical number by the Marler's.

P-day to Cumbemayo, Bosque de Piedras

Once in awhile we have time to spend a p-day with the missionaries and visit
an amazing historical site.
Monday, we went to Cumbemayo with the Cajamarca Sur and Norte Zones.
Our first stop was at Bella Vista, where we looked over the City of Cajamarca.
We then hopped back on the bus to visit the Bosque de Piers (Forest of Stones).
At 13,000 feet we walked through the forest, where rocks have been shaped into animal figures and human figures by wind and rain.

Perhaps more interesting are the petroglyphs on the walls of some of the ancient canals.
Some had religious significance and others, only drawings that the experts have not yet
translated.
Some date back to 1000-5000 years before Christ.
Some are believed to be Jeredite writings
A lady came out with her little lamb hoping someone would want to hold it and pay her a little money for the opportunity.  Sister Marler loved holding Maria's little lamb.
President loved hiking the Andies with the missionaries.
Sister Reynolds with Maria's little lamb.
The rock formations behind us are called the Friar's, as they look like a group of ministers gathering for a meeting.
Or maybe it should be called, the Mormon Missionaries!
Sister Oteo jumping for joy at seeing the "cuy" in the rocks.
Sister Rochette, Sister Garcia and Sister Gamboa
(with photo bomber, Elder Bond in the background)
Elder Aves, Elder Andrade, Hermana Stewart, Hermana Afoa, Elder Rodrigues, Elder Tacza, Elder Bailey, Elder Quiroz and Elder Lopez enjoying a pause in the hike.
Now, this was one of the highlights for Hermana Marler, she found a little girl spinning her own thread.  Sister Marler sat down and offered to help, after and encouraging nod from her mother, she allowed Sister Marler to put the spun yard on the spindle (a little stick).
She first taught me the correct method, then watched very carefully while Sister Marler worked.
Stake President, President Barboza was our tour guide, he explained the petroglyphs, and the history of the area.   Below we were able to see the canals,
where water has flowed for centuries and centuries.
Canals that carry water down the continental divide to Cajamarca,
dating back to 1000 years before Christ.
Some run toward the Pacific Ocean and others to the Atlantic Ocean
Elder Bishop, Elder Rodriguez, Elder Bond and Elder Marshal
walking among the petrogliphs and canals.
Elder Quiroz, elder Heward, Elder Cowley, Sister Rochette, Elder Rodgiguez,
Elder Tacza and Elder Bishop.
Hermana Thruston and Hermana Stewart, taking a break and enjoying the view.

Sister Rosado and Sister Salinas (with that photo bomber again).
We are glad to be in a country so rich with history.

Elder Andrade and Elder Tacza happy after a training by Sister Marler.
Elder Salinas and Elder Breas with Elder Marshall.   The training by the Assistants was wonderful.
Thursday Night, President Marler met with all of the Bisop's to help what progress.
Sunday night we enjoyed the movie, "Meet the Mormon's"    Everyone brought friends to learn a little bit about what we believe.
Sister Gamboa, Sister Rochelle, Sister Garcia, Sister Garcia, Sister Thurston,
Sister Reynolds, and Sister Sofan.
Elder Thruston, Elder Segura and Elder Lazaro, waiting for interviews.
A little Football, a little Spanish and a lot of time together to learn.
Sister Sofan, Sister Reynolds and Sister Garcia.
Sister Massina and Sister Oteo, taking a few minutes to get ready for the interviews.
thanks for the great weekend.

"On the Road to Cajamarca"

We spent the last week up in Cajamarca, we had interviews with the missionaries, visited people that the missionaries are teaching, visited Chota and the Branch there.
We also had time to take in a few ruins and sites with the Catamarca Zones' Missionaries.

Kurt and I in a rice field, it is so beautiful here.
Elder Haacke and Sister Marler crossing the swinging bridge over the river.

Elder Marshall our new Assistant with Sister Vaughan, Elder Bond, Sister Angell and Elder Haacke.
On our way to Catamarca there are many little Pueblos, here some ladies sit selling their wares.
Another young woman gathering wood for a fire.

The Placencia Family…now an Eternal Family

It was our pleasure to be in the temple with our friends, the Placencia Family on Wednesday,
August 26 when they were sealed for time and all eternity.
We first met Liliana when she was cutting President Marler's hair two years ago.

Many friends attended the wedding and Elder Kaelin and Elder Claros were there too, it was a beautiful day.
Some of you sisters may remember Sister Liliana who did some make-overs for our
Sister Leader Trainers, in October of 2013.

Elder Kaelin, Elder Pontius and Elder Claros...homeward bound

Wednesday, August 26, three of our fine missionaries headed for home,
Elder Kaelin and Elder Pontius from the U.S.
and Elder Claros from Bolivia.
Thanks for bringing wonderful, exceptional missionaries.
